Your individualized Learning Ears® program has four training phases and is designed and delivered to address predetermined goals agreed upon by the practitioner and client.
Phase I (four weeks)
Weeks 1-4 follow an assessment and intake process provided by your Learning Ears® practitioner to set goals for your program. This phase initiates the auditory training and stimulation to improve the client’s alertness and interest in listening. The ability to focus on desired input and filter out what is not relevant can begin to emerge. This phase prepares the client for more advanced auditory stimulation. The first four weeks can be extended if needed.
- The client follows a prescribed, daily listening protocol five days weekly for 30 minutes.
- The client records listening experiences and observation in a weekly journal.
- Weekly consultations are scheduled by phone, or on site, with your Learning Ears® practitioner.
Phase II (six weeks)
Weeks 5-10 introduce the ear-voice training using thirty structured and sequenced “Listen and Repeat” lessons. These lessons follow the developmental sequence of sound frequencies for language acquisition. The focus of this phase is verbal input and output, and exploring voice potential. The client is guided to experience new skill development for listening and speaking behaviors.
- The client follows a prescribed, daily listening protocol five days weekly for 15 minutes.
- The client works for an additional 15 minutes, five days each week, on Learning Ears® ear-voice training equipment, which is provided by the Moyers Learning Systems practitioner. The activities, lessons and methods will be prescribed, monitored and adjusted, as needed, by your Learning Ears® practitioner.
- The client records listening experiences and observations in a weekly journal.
